10 Feel Good 80s Movies on Netflix

Thursday, August 07, 2014

Last weekend I needed a marathon of feel good movies, and there's not better era than the 80s to get the innocent feeling back to life on me. I was born in the early 80's so I didn't quite live that style of dancing around and drinking milkshake on the boyfriend's cool convertible, but I do love the style and enjoy every 80s themed party I can attend.

For some reason I cannot explain, Footloose is the song Chris and I always dance to, no matter where we are, is pretty much our song, although is not romantic at all, it always brings good memories and great laughs.

So here is the list of the movies you can also watch on Netflix and bring that giddy mood on you too.

1. Footloose, 1984: Kavin Bacon at his best and Lori Singer in the famous red boots. The strength of high schoolers wanting to dance leads Bacon to give his great speech quoting Ecclesiastes 3:1-4:  "a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance".

2. Dirty Dancing, 1987: Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze prohibited love, the famous line "Nobody puts Baby in a corner" and the most iconic dance scene pictured above make my day anytime.

3. Pretty in Pink, 1986: The traditional high school "drama": rich-boy dating poor-creative-girl. The only thing makes me cringe every time I watch the movie is to see her destroying the adorable dresses to make a horrendous typical 80's dress.

4. Say anything..., 1989: For the longest time I had a John Cusack crush, and I believe I still have a crush on the 80s-90s version of him. What girl does not want to have a Looyd Dobler who would drop everything to just be with her?

5. The Breakfast Club, 1985: Chicago again, baby! “We’re all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that’s all.”. Pretty easy to see how we can put aside all the stereotypes and become friends.

6. Ferris Bueller's Day Off, 1986: The reason why I moved to Chicago years ago! Who does not want to have as many adventures in one day as Ferris had?

7. Can't Buy me Love, 1987: Patrick Dempsey as a teen was the boy I wanted to date, and I guess was always my favorite type of guy to date always, ha! Nerdy boy gets pretty popular girls style.

8. Adventures in Babysitting, 1987: What happened to the movies being filmed in Chicago?

9.  Girls Just Want to Have Fun, 1985: "Velcro. Next to the Walkman and tab it is the coolest invention of the 20th century!"- Enough Said.

10. Flashdance, 1983: To be honest, I never quite got Jennifer Beals caracter, as Alex Owens, in this movie. She is quite a drama queen and all she wants to do is dance, but the overall dance here and there, and the leg warmers make up for the entire movie.

♥ Enjoy!
